Equipment

  • 1 Electric Juicer for juicing the oranges.

Ingredients

  • 6 whole ripe oranges Always choose fully ripe, bright orange colored fruits for the sweetest and most flavorful juice. Soft oranges with a slight give when pressed are the juiciest. Avoid green or hard oranges; they produce bitter, acidic juice that honey alone cannot fix.
  • 1 tablespoon honey Use raw, natural honey for the best flavor and maximum health benefits. Start with one tablespoon and adjust to your sweetness preference; ripe oranges are naturally sweet and may need very little honey at all. Never substitute with refined sugar as honey adds both sweetness and nutrients that sugar simply cannot replicate.

Instructions

  • Step 1: Wash the Oranges: First, rinse the oranges thoroughly under clean running water. This step removes dirt, pesticides, and other impurities. Afterward, dry the oranges with a clean towel.

  • Step 2: Peel the Oranges: Next, carefully peel the skin of each orange. While peeling, remove most of the white pith because it may slightly affect the taste. However, leaving a small amount is harmless.

  • Step 3: Remove the Seeds: After peeling the oranges, separate them into segments. Then carefully remove all visible seeds. This step is important because seeds can cause bitterness in the juice.

  • Step 4: Juice the Oranges: Now place the orange segments into your electric juicer. Then turn on the machine and allow it to extract the juice completely. Within seconds, the juicer separates the pulp and produces fresh citrus liquid.

  • Step 5: Add Honey: After juicing, pour the fresh orange juice into a clean bowl or jug. Next, add 1 tablespoon of honey. Stir thoroughly so that the honey dissolves evenly into the juice. Because honey is a natural sweetener, it enhances the flavor without overpowering the natural citrus taste. Chill and enjoy.

Notes

Always use ripe oranges for the sweetest, most flavorful juice. Unripe oranges produce a bitter, acidic juice that honey alone cannot fix.
Remove as much white pith as possible during peeling. The pith is the main source of bitterness in homemade orange juice.
Remove all visible seeds before juicing. Even one or two seeds left in can make the entire juice taste bitter.
Adjust honey to your preference; start with one tablespoon and add more only if needed. Ripe oranges are naturally sweet and may need very little honey at all.
Serve immediately after juicing for the highest Vitamin C content and freshest flavor. Fresh orange juice loses its nutrients quickly when left to sit.
Chill before serving for the most refreshing experience; especially on a hot day.
For a smoother juice strain through a fine mesh sieve after juicing if you prefer less pulp.
